Krško

Krško municipality is the largest municipality in the region. Krško used to owe its development primarily to its industry and energetics, however, in the past couple of years, it has been experiencing some drastic changes also in the area of economy. In the Krško municipality, there is the Krško nuclear power plant as well as thermo power plant Brestanica. The building of a hydroelectric power station is planned along the lower part of the Sava River stream, as part of the creation of a chain of hydroelectric power stations on the Sava River. Apart from that, the municipality is known for its rich tradition in metallurgy, paper production, wine growing, and fruit growing.
